The Kii Coffee Factory in Kirinyaga County, Kenya, has produced coffee since 1995 through the Rungeto Farmers Cooperative Society, uniting 850 farmers with small plots of about 250 trees each. Grown at 1,310–1,900 m in rich volcanic soils, only ripe cherries are selected, fermented for 16–24 hours, washed in Kii River water, soaked for sweetness, and dried on raised beds for 14 days.
